828-339-4288 or 800-447-4091, ext. 4288
You will not need a library account to use online resources.
Simply log in to MySCC, choose the "Library" tab at the top of the page, and begin your research. You will find online databases containing peer-reviewed articles, the library book catalog, and LibGuides (a collection of resources for your major, your classes, or your interests).
If you wish to use print materials (to check out books, magazines, professional journals in print, or DVDs):
1. Obtain an SCC ID card from the Cashier's office in Balsam building on the Jackson campus. (For students, this is easily accomplished during Orientation!)
2. Do one of the following:
--bring your SCC ID card to the library and we will help you create your library account.
--email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
--call us at 800.449.4091x4288 and we will send you the registration form by email.
Welcome to Holt Library at Southwestern Community College!
Feel free to stop by and visit the Library at the south end of Jackson Campus in Sylva. The SCC Library offers comfortable spaces for individual or group work; professional research assistance; classroom or individual research instruction; digital and print academic research collections; fiction and biography collections; current magazines and journals; 26 computer lab workstations; a black and white printer; a variety of study space options; and a snack room. Library staff members enjoy helping to match users with the information and reading materials they need, so questions are always welcome!
Can't make a visit in person? Students, faculty, and staff may also access digital collections 24/7 by logging into MySCC, then selecting the Library portal. Have a question? Contact us by phone at 828-339-4288 or by email: email@example.com
All students, faculty, and staff of SCC may check out materials by using their SCC photo ID card as a Library Card. Carrying a library/ID card is necessary. All student and employee library account transactions begin by scanning the barcode on the back of the SCC photo ID card.
Non-student adult residents of Jackson, Macon & Swain County and the Qualla Boundary are welcome to use the library facility and to borrow materials. Residents can bring in their NC Driver's License or NC Photo ID card, and register for a free Non-student Library Card at the service desk. Non-student users also should bring in their library card because the barcode must be scanned to begin transactions.
In signing up for a Holt Library account, all library users sign a borrowing agreement to be personally responsible for the safety, proper use, and prompt return of all library materials they check out. Users are NOT authorized to lend checked-out materials to others. Users agree to return or renew check-outs on time, and they are required to pay any fees assessed on their library account.
