SCC Access to the Chronicle of Higher Education

Access to The Chronicle is available anytime and anywhere, whether on campus, in your office, or reading from home. Login to the SCC portal and choose the Library, then click on the Chronicle of Higher Education tab to access the Chronicle from the Holt Library website; or, go directly to SCC’s subscription at: https://www.chronicle.com/institution/southwestern-community-college

You will know you are using SCC’s Chronicle institutional subscription because our SCC name and logo will appear, and no matter what page you go to, in the upper left-hand corner it will say: “SITE LICENSE ACCESS PROVIDED BY SOUTHWESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Free Account Extras

Setting up a profile is not required; however, it does allow you to subscribe to newsletter alerts, open articles shared by colleagues and to view job postings, job alerts and salary data. You can also receive discounts In the Chronicle store. Sign in to your account, if you already have a free profile account. If you do not already have a free profile account, follow these steps to create one:

  1. Go to https://www.chronicle.com/institution/southwestern-community-college and click on the “Sign In” link at top, right-hand side of the page.
     
  2. Select the "Sign Up" tab to create a free account profile using your Southwestern email address. You also have the option to sign up for The Chronicle's free email newsletters during the registration process or later once you have logged into your free profile.
     
  3. Activate your account by confirming your email address in the “The Chronicle: Confirm your email address” email.

Once you’re signed in to your profile on SCC’s subscription, you will see a profile head icon in the upper right-hand corner. When you click on this, you will see your name and the site license provided by Southwestern Community College and a menu for selecting and accessing your newsletter signups.  Whether you sign in through a personal profile account or not, click on CURRENT ISSUE in the menu to see the latest articles.
