Farm to school connects local agriculture, schools, and partners to benefit students, educators, farmers, and families, and communities.

Jackson County Schools participate in the NC Farm to School Program, including taste tests of local foods, edible school garden or orchard activities, taste tests of products from school general local food promotions. According to the USDA Farm to School Census, 2% of their food budget is spent locally.

School gardens provide an integrated context for learning about food, nutrition, science, math and more!

An interactive, searchable on-line, mapping platform designed to enhance and inform the consumers' experience in the regional food system. This map identifies local food businesses, farms, markets, food pantries and community eating sites. Search by specific location, direct-to-consumer farms and markets, and food access resources. Farmers and processors seeking infrastructure support will find a complete listing of resources available.
