LIBRARY & I.D. CARDS

Library accounts are created when students or college staff are registered with the SCC system. Your library account number will be SWC- followed by your 7 digit student or staff ID number. Library staff must verify your identity with your student/staff ID card or other valid photo ID before lending materials.

All SCC students have access to the Holt Library Orientation course in Moodle. This course provides a basic overview of the library, the resources available, and how to access them.

CHECKOUTS

Books check out for 4 weeks and can be renewed for another 4 weeks.  DVDs, magazines, and journals check out for 7 days. SCC students are allowed to check out 8 items at a time (exceptions can be made in case of need for scholarly research).

MACON AND SWAIN CAMPUSES

Students may have books and library loaned technology sent to either the Macon or Swain campuses to be picked up at the campus receptionist's desk. Students may return books and library loaned technology there as well.

RENEWALS

Users can call the library at 828.339.4288, or email  library@southwesterncc.edu to renew materials. It is the borrower’s responsibility to request a renewal.

OVERDUE ITEMS

Written notices are emailed to remind users of overdue item status.  Please contact library staff as soon as a notice arrives to request a renewal.

As stated in the Student Handbook, “All library materials must be returned by the end of each semester and accounts cleared before students will be allowed to register, graduate or receive a transcript.”
